An Experiment in Photography

In an attempt to take consistently good quality images for our up and coming online store, Skav’s has bought a light box! It’s a fair size (as you’ll see below it takes quite nice pictures of cats) and has produced some nice pictures so far using the newest samsung galaxy mobile camera. Here’s a picture of it set up on the kitchen table (our previous spot for photography as the windows provide good natural light on a sunny day).

The light box came with three sturdy plastic backing sheets – black, white, and a nude tone. Beibhinn liked the white background, Skav liked the black, and, after some test shots, we decided to make a completely different one out of hessian instead –

We have already started taking product photos – it will be a big task taking multiple photos of every single product in Skav’s repertoire, especially when all this time off is creating some new and exciting product lines (more on that in the next post!).

Our favourite image so far is one of the first ones – when we were first putting the light box together, Willow (one of our cats) decided to jump in and have a look for herself. Since then she has been very curious about the box and keeps pawing to be let inside while we are using it… Adorable but slightly annoying!
